Every Child Deserves a Champion
Help provide hope and healing to children who’ve experienced abuse and neglect.
On River Time works to interrupt the cycle of abuse and neglect. Through your partnership and our life-affirming programming, we can change the trajectory of kids’ lives. Join us and let them know they aren’t defined by their past. They have a future filled with hope.

Camp
On River Time’s “Fish On!" camp is designed to create a dramatic pivot in a teen's life. For a child who has a history of abuse and neglect, it’s an opportunity to create new, positive memories and affirm their worth.
This all-expense paid camp for kids ages 12-18 is hosted at The Lodge at Palisades Creek in Irwin, Idaho. It includes two days of fly fishing on the Snake River, whitewater rafting and a day trip to the Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
SOAR
Success, Opportunity, Attitude and Resilience SOAR is our Life Skills curriculum for students who have aged out of their children’s homes and are now in college. SOAR focuses on those ‘soft skills’ that give an individual a leading edge, including communication, work ethic, and etiquette. Students also learn job interview skills and resume writing and even participate in a mock interview. Our goal through SOAR is to give these young adults every opportunity for success in life.
Scholarships
Every year, On River Time provides college and career scholarships to the high school graduates of the children’s homes we serve. We love to see our student’s grow into successful, young adults. With your help, we can help them access education and employment opportunities they would have never dreamed possible.
On River Time has presented scholarship checks to more than 30 students since 2013.

Abuse and neglect do not have to dictate the future of a child. On River Time programs contain the four “protective factors”* that psychologists say are necessary to help a child overcome abuse.
1. Build resilience and confidence
2. Express support
3. Build connections
4. Allow child to express feelings

“Our past can only define our future if we allow it to do so. Life changing experiences occur everyday, and it is through these moments and experiences that we learn the true meaning of the words, ‘it was not your fault’.”

Steve Davis
Steve Davis started On River Time in 2012 with a mission to help children of abuse and neglect. As a survivor of abuse himself, Steve believes that understanding “it was not your fault” is a process of forgiveness and self reflection that can only happen in silence. For him, it happened on the river. He’s senior vice president/director for McGriff Insurance Services-Construction Risk Services. He’s a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and the author of the book, Picking Butter Beans.
Wendy Garner
For Wendy Garner, being the Executive Director of On River Time is not a job but a calling. A former news anchor and reporter, she stepped away from a 20 year career in broadcasting to help others tell their stories. Her role as the owner of a media relations and video production company is what led her to On River Time. Wendy is passionate about being an advocate for the kids we serve. She’s an Auburn graduate and native of Delray Beach, FL. She and her husband, Tim have two sons.
Beth Plummer
Beth Plummer is our Finance & Support Services Director at On River Time. She joined the team in January of 2017. Beth was born and raised in West Virginia and a graduate of Marshall University. “The whole purpose of the On River Time trip is to create an environment that offers the opportunity to speak life into children who for so long received the opposite. Our children experience so much blessing at Big Oak Ranch, but sometimes in life we need a change of scenery to change our perspective. On River Time provides just that!”
